Uniquely Madison Itinerary

Just like each Bucky in the parade, Madison is unique. These statues feature some of the most unique aspects of Madison. From the farmers’ market to the signatures of community members, these statues represent how Madison is special in the eyes of each different artist.

Bucky on Guard

Wisconsin State Capitol – 2 E. Main St.
Bucky on Guard is guarding all the traditions, treasures, and landmarks of Madison. This design was given life in a middle school art studio in Merrill, WI. The students were able to watch their teacher’s progress and be involved in the excitement and community aspect of Bucky on Parade, even from over 100 miles away.

Signature Bucky

111 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
From a distance, Bucky looks to be in his signature red and white striped sweater, but upon closer inspection, you’ll see that over 4,000 community signatures are papier-mâchéd to the statue to create this inspiring piece. This statue reminds us of all the people in the Madison community and beyond who are united by their love for Bucky.

Sunburst

James Madison Park – 614 E. Gorham St.
This vibrant Bucky embodies a favorite Madison summer spot. Bright, bold colors capture the contrast between the terrace chairs and Lake Mendota’s blue waters.

Between the Lakes

Blair St. Gardens – S. Blair St. at Williamson St.
Isthmus (noun): a narrow strip of land, bordered on both sides by water. This Bucky highlights the beauty of the Capitol, nestled between Lake Monona and Lake Mendota.

Strike Up the Band

Capital City Trail – John Nolen Dr. at S. Broom St.
Pull up a chair and watch the light show over Madison’s picturesque skyline. The artwork on this statue was created with acrylic paints and accented with glittery, glow-in-the-dark fireworks on the front and back.

Bucky on Ice

Brittingham Boathouse – 150 N. Shore Dr.
Head down John Nolen Drive in the colder months and you will see the frozen lakes dotted with ice fishermen waiting for a bite. Bucky on Ice celebrates one of Madison’s most popular sports, and will hold down the fort near Lake Monona until the ice fishermen return.

It Takes Two Wheels

Olin Park – 1156 Olin Turville Ct.
This statue is themed around the fantastic biking opportunities in Dane County. Several bike trails are noted, along with some of the key trail features, including one of the tunnels near Belleville. The base of the statue is a bicycle wheel.
