Iconic UW Itinerary

Bucky is synonymous with the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The iconic university has played an integral part in forming the culture and traditions that make Madison so unique. These Bucky statues celebrate the rich history of the University of Wisconsin.

5th Quarter Bucky

AC Hotel by Marriott – 1 N. Webster St.
Join the UW Marching Band for everyone’s favorite quarter in college football! This statue is decoupaged with actual sheet music, with real band instruments attached to the base.
 
 
 

Bucky on Guard

Wisconsin State Capitol – 2 E. Main St.
Bucky on Guard is guarding all the traditions, treasures, and landmarks of Madison. This design was given life in a middle school art studio in Merrill, WI. The students were able to watch their teacher’s progress and be involved in the excitement and community aspect of Bucky on Parade, even from over 100 miles away.
 
 
 

Vintage Gridiron

ESPN Madison – 15 N. Pinckney St.
This Bucky design salutes the proud heritage of Wisconsin football with a 1920s style vintage uniform.
 
 
 
 

Bucky at the Terrace

538 State St.
This statue captures all aspects of the Terrace, from the iconic starburst chair, to the lake with a sailboat and a sunny sky with dashes of color from the setting sun.
 
 
 

1st and 10

State Street Brats – 603 State St.
Blue, forty-two! Hut, hut, hike! Bucky is dressed in his shoulder pads and football jersey, ready to step on the field at Camp Randall Stadium.
 
 
 

Grateful Red

610 State St.
Bucky is decked out in red and ready to shoot some hoops! This design is named after the enthusiastic student section who cheer for the Badgers from behind the basket at the Kohl Center.
 
 
 

#GameDayBucky

University Book Store – 711 State St.
It’s not Game Day without a pair of bibs! Bucky is ready to cheer on the team with his red and white overalls, Jump Around shirt and Motion “W” tattoo.
 
 
 

One Leg Up

Library Mall
Fill the hill! The pink flamingos are out in full force, atop a green base representing Bascom Hill. Fun fact: The turf on the base came directly from Camp Randall!
 
 
 

Sunset

Memorial Union Terrace – 800 Langdon St.
All the colors of a Memorial Union Terrace sunset come together in this beautiful statue, complete with the iconic sunburst chair.
 
 
 
 

Retro Bucky

Wisconsin Alumni Association – 650 N. Lake St.
Inspired by a love of everything Bucky, this statue dons the traditional red and white sweater, and features various iterations of the beloved mascot through the years.
 
 
 

Baller Bucky

Red Gym – 716 Langdon St.
Bucky is suited up, with a basketball under his arm, and is ready to take the court! This statue’s base is made to look like a basketball.
 
 
 
 

Bucky Alvarez

Camp Randall Stadium – 1440 Monroe St.
This statue will make you do a double take! Bucky dons a pair of khakis, red sweater vest and a headset – he’s ready to coach the team.
 
 
 
 

Leckrone’s Stop at the Top

Union South – 1308 W. Dayton St.
This design was inspired by band director Michael Leckrone and all of the fun he has brought to UW. Many may not know that Leckrone created the bands signature step, “stop at the top.”
 
 
 

Graduation Bucky

Bascom Hall – 500 Lincoln Dr.
Dressed in cap and gown, with a diploma in hand, this Bucky is ready to celebrate his graduation. Once a Badger, always a Badger!
 
 
 
 

Major Bucky

UW Marching Band Practice Fields – 702 Walnut St.
The drum major is the leader of the marching band, and Major Bucky leads the way with striking artwork and fiberglass additions for his outfit and baton.
 
 
 

America’s Badgerland

UW Veterinary Medicine – 2015 Linden Dr.
Two well-known symbols come together for the ultimate ode to Wisconsin. The artwork shows a life-like Holstein cow, representing the state’s thriving dairy industry.
 
 
 

Flamingo Bucky

UW Foundation – 1848 University Ave.
This statue is covered in painterly flamingos in a field of flowers, inspired by the classic UW tradition that covers Bascom Hill with flamingos each year!
 
 
 

Rugby Bucky

Brittingham Park – 829 W. Washington Ave.
Did you know that rugby came to the UW-Madison campus for the first time in 1880? This Bucky is ready to lead the team to victory in his classic rugby gear.
 
 
 

We Are Bucky

Smith Hall – 35 N. Park St.
A collage of program covers, ticket stubs, newspaper headlines and photos of fans were printed on archival paper and decoupaged over this entire Bucky statue.
 
 
 

…And On Wisconsin

Kohl Center – 601 W. Dayton St.
As UW Band Director Michael Leckrone says, “When you’re in the band, you’ve got to be tough enough to eat a rock!” This statue represents past, present and future members of the UW Marching Band.
 
 
 

Pucky

Gordon Dining & Event Center – 770 W. Dayton St.
Drop the puck! Bucky’s skates are laced up, and he’s ready for the big game.
 
 
 
 

Jump Around

Hilldale Shopping Center – 726 N. Midvale Blvd.
This statue pays homage to one of the greatest traditions in college football: Jump Around! It is covered with photos of fans at Camp Randall, including the student section. Recognize anyone?
 
 
 

Sunburst

James Madison Park – 614 E. Gorham St.
Bucky has the best seat in the house – watching the sailboats come in on a relaxing day at the Terrace.
